Shinhan Card registers patent of ‘Credit Payment System’ based on blockchain

Shinhan Card has developed a Credit Payment System based on blockchain technology.

On 15th, Shinhan Card announced that it has registered the patent on ‘Credit Virtual Currency Creation Device & Credit Virtual Currency Management Device(hereinafter, Blockchain Credit Payment System)’

Shinhan Card has succeeded in registering the Korean patent in 1 and a half year. The relevant patent is also in the process of patent applications globally such as in the U.S., Japan, China, EU, Vietnam, and Indonesia.

It became possible to implement the credit payments processes such as the credit limit issuance, credit card payments and retail credit card transaction into blockchain based technology. So far, the blockchain technology has only been used for limited purposes such as the transfer or personal verifications.

As the relevant patent includes processes such as △smartphone mobile payment without credit card(Cardless), △Inter-application payment without VAN or PG(VAN-less‧PG-less) other than credit payment process, broad application across the industry is expected.

Especially, it seems to be preparing the upcoming IoT era with ‘Multi Signature’ and ‘Multi Account’ in which the IoT devices such as A.I. speaker, vehicle, refrigerator, or washing machine may purchase within the credit limit instead of the owner.

Personnel from Shinhan Card said, “As the leading service provider, Shinhan Card has been in concern with applying new technologies. And we will continue to implement capable services progressively in accordance with the alterations of the laws and regulations afterward.”
