A founder of NEXON and CEO of NXC Kim Jeong-ju acquired Korbit, a virtual asset exchange, and established a subsidiary to develop a digital asset trading platform. This is to develop a digital asset trading platform aimed at the Millennial and Z-generation, the so-called MZ generation.

NXC announced on the 30th that it founded its subsidiary, Arques, to develop a new trading platform in February. NXC will launch a trading platform that anyone can easily access in the global market next year through Arques.

NXC has invested in various areas, such as Impossible Foods and Beyond Meat, which have founded as alternatives to future food, and the ridesharing service Lyft that started with a conscious movement to reduce exhaust gases from automobiles.

Recently, NXC invested in the newly emerging digital assets due to the financial crisis of 2008. NXC acquired Korbit, a virtual asset exchange in Korea, as a subsidiary, and also acquired Bitstamp, a virtual asset exchange in Europe.

Arques is focusing on entering the global market and is preparing a service for MZ generation that leads the trend.

NXC emphasized that MZ generation is struggling for economic stability, has a wide variety of saving purposes, and is more concerned with consumption for enjoyment than planned consumption. As the trend of asset management and investment changes, services that discard the user experience of existing financial and investment applications such as Robinhood, Betterment, Wealthfront in the United States are popular with young people.

The first service of Arques is expected to be an asset management and trading platform aimed at this generation. As it is a holding company of a game company, it is expected that the service associated with the game will be established.

The basis of existing stock trading is charts and order books. It can be a barrier for those new to stock trading. Arques aims for a simple user interface with the concept that investors directly increase and manage assets through elements of interactive intro and tycoon game (business simulation game). Since various algorithm-based investment strategies designed by the trading team are provided, users can be attracted to trading even if they have no investment experience.

Kim Seong-min, who leads Arques, was a head of development team at Nexon Korea Intelligence Labs. He also has experience in developing office severs at Microsoft. In Arques, founding members of talented developers from Nexon and famous IT companies are working and currently hiring.

He said, “I want to try new things in financial section based on various technologies such as big data, machine learning, and distributed servers.” “I would like to implement easy and simple trading service, away from the candlesticks and charts that can be seen when running an investment–related app,” he added.
