FIU's ongoing restrictions on foreign virtual asset operators will continue until legislation is in place

On August 17, 2022, the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) notified 16 foreign virtual asset operators who are engaged in undeclared illegal business activities against Koreans for violating certain financial information laws.

And On July 19, 2023, the FIU decided to restrict the deposits and withdrawals of seven additional foreign virtual asset operators.
