When you shoot a animal’s facial image with a smartphone, a service that artificial intelligence (AI) registers in the animal protection management system will be launched.
The Ministry of Science and ICT held the 18th New Technology and Service Deliberation Committee on the 26th to deliberate on whether to apply a regulatory sandbox to three agendas.
The regulatory sandbox is a system in which the government temporarily delays existing regulations before launching a new product or service.
In this deliberation committee, Block Pet Co., Ltd. received a special case for the registration service for dogs.
It is a service that automatically registers in the animal protection management system operated by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs by recognizing facial features when a dog’s facial image is captured using a mobile app. The animal protection management system collects and manages dog information.
Under the current Animal Protection Act, dogs can only be registered in the animal protection management system with an internal or external wireless identification device.
The deliberation committee made it possible to register animals through facial recognition for 1,000 dogs registered with wireless identification devices in Chuncheon, Gangwon-do.
In the second year, the service will be provided to 1,000 dogs that are not registered with a wireless identification device.
