“Bitcoin as a National Reserve? Global Strategy to Be Unveiled in Seoul”

From June 4 to 6, Seoul’s Gwangjin District will host Bitcoin Seoul 2025, Asia’s largest Bitcoin-focused conference. This high-profile event comes at a time when major nations are accelerating efforts to institutionalize cryptocurrencies, positioning Bitcoin not merely as an investment tool but as a strategic national reserve asset.

Much attention is focused on this year’s event following U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent declaration to include Bitcoin as part of a national reserve strategy. President Trump has pledged to dismantle restrictive crypto regulations and proclaimed that “the United States will become a Bitcoin superpower.”

Jointly organized by Seoul Economic Daily, Decenter, and Run & Imagine, the conference will bring together more than 80 global speakers and Bitcoin communities from around the world. Under the theme “Strategic Approaches in the Age of National Bitcoin Reserves”, the event will feature discussions on policy, institutional finance, and the future of Bitcoin regulation.

A headline speaker, Dennis Porter, CEO of the Satoshi Action Fund, will share insights from his experience leading Bitcoin-related legislative efforts in over 20 U.S. states. He played a pivotal role in shaping the pro-Bitcoin stance of the current U.S. administration. Porter will join the “Bitcoin Policy Summit: Seoul Edition” on June 5 to discuss international policy trends and practical regulatory approaches with legal and governmental experts.

From Korea, key figures such as Seo Yoo-seok, Chairman of the Korea Financial Investment Association, and Simon Kim, CEO of Hashed, will participate in sessions exploring how South Korea can assume a leading role in Asian crypto policy. One of the highlights will be a panel on the challenges and future of spot Bitcoin ETFs, which are yet to be introduced domestically.

On June 6, the Bitcoin Finance Forum will explore the evolving financial utility of Bitcoin. Speakers include Preston Pysh, co-founder of The Investors Podcast Network, and Stephan Livera, a macroeconomic investor and prominent Austrian economics commentator. They will examine how institutional behavior has shifted since the global rise of spot crypto ETFs.

In addition to formal sessions, the conference will feature VIP private meetings, welcome receptions, and various exhibition booths, making it a key platform for assessing South Korea’s potential to emerge as Asia’s next Bitcoin hub.
