Seocho-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jeon Seong-su) announced on the 25th that it will host a special event to celebrate the Seocho Coin app reaching 10,000 users.
Seocho Coin is a type of “reward point” earned by participating in eco-friendly and volunteer activities. It operates through the “Good Seocho Coin” app, which utilizes blockchain technology for accumulating and using coins. Since its launch in 2022, the app has undergone continuous system upgrades and has become an essential platform for Seocho residents. Currently, it has around 9,800 users.
Special Event for 10,000 Users Milestone
To commemorate reaching 10,000 users, Seocho-gu has prepared special rewards for both new and existing app users.
The 10,000th new user will receive 200 coins (worth approximately 20,000 KRW), while the 10 users before and after this milestone will receive 100 coins (worth approximately 10,000 KRW) each.
Additionally, for every N-thousand users milestone (e.g., 10,000, 20,000 users), the district will offer a “double rewards” promotion for existing users. From the first day of the following month for one month, users can earn twice the usual number of coins through participation activities such as daily quizzes, roulette spins, check-ins, and step tracking.
Details of the event can be found in the announcements section of the Good Seocho Coin app.
Last year, Seocho-gu enhanced the Seocho Coin app with significant upgrades, greatly expanding its usability. In particular, its integration with Seoul Pay has increased the number of participating stores to over 12,100 locations, including restaurants, cafes, and hospitals. Additionally, Seocho Coin can be used to pay for parking at five public parking lots within the district.
By the end of this year, Seocho-gu plans to add four more public parking lots to the system, further improving parking convenience. The district is also working with businesses and schools to expand Seocho Coin’s accumulation opportunities. Initiatives like “Good Seocho Coin Day” will encourage wider adoption, and promotional campaigns at cultural events, such as the Seocho Friday Music Concerts, will help attract new users.
Mayor Jeon Seong-su stated, “Last year’s system upgrades made it easier for residents to use the Seocho Coin app. This year, we aim to encourage even more participation in good deeds.” He added, “We hope many residents and small business owners take advantage of this event to enjoy the benefits of Seocho Coin.”
