Kakao has issued a challenge to the leading power of the blockchain market, Ethereum by announcing the mainnet (blockchain system) of ‘Klaytn’ on 27th last month. Starting July, Kakao partners will sequentially start launching platforms using Klaytn. Focus is on how far the Klaytn ecosystem will expand.
400 times’ faster than Ethereum
Currently, most of the blockchain platforms are launched based on Ethereum. More than 50% of the blockchain applications are based on Ethereum. EOS follows the next.
The advantage of Klaytn is higher speed and user convenience.
Transaction per second(TPS) of Klaytn is about 8,000. It is 400 times faster than Ethereum. There will be no problem in the transaction even under any variable intervention, they said.
In addition, the inconvenience of Ethereum’s commission pay for each transmission is supplemented. For Ethereum, you have to pay a commission every time you try to use, which is rather inconvenient. Klaytn adopted proxy payment feature to simplify this process. This benefits the users as well as the developers.
Klaytn also made other platforms with many subscribers get involved. Among 34 Klaytn based service developers, 14 companies are located outside of Korea. ‘Palette’, the Japanese social matching service, ‘U chain’, the U.S. bicycle sharing service, ‘GET Protocol’, the ticket purchasing service of Netherlands are included. These services have more than 400 million subscribers.
Until September, 34 new services ready to launch for Klaytn

Cosme rewards the users with virtual currency when they register their reviews in the application. The virtual currency can be used in purchasing cosmetics in various partner sites. It was s big hit for Korean women in their 20’s and 30’s as ‘Virtual Currency Rewarding Cosmetic App’.
‘Angtube’, video social media, and ‘Hintchain’, food review service will also launch their services within this month. In September, ‘TEMCO’ will launch the blockchain second-hand market ‘Guhada’. ‘Carry Protocol’ is planning a platform for commercial advertisement use.
The Klaytn based RPG game is upcoming. ‘WemadeTree’, the blockchain subsidiary of ‘Wemade’ is developing Klaytn technology applied clicker RPG game. The game will be released within September.
Kakao has built a corporate alliance, ‘Klaytn Governance Council’ to operate platforms together. The alliance comprises of 20 corporations.
